I live next to a creek in NC and for the past 8 years have not been able to enjoy the outside at any point during spring to fall. Getting covered in bug spray was the only option. We've tried something different every year and never any success. I forget where these popped up online but gave them a shot a few months ago and I'm not sure why they are not everywhere. Every trap has been filled and haven't gotten bit once this year.
This is my second year using these mosquito traps and they are amazing! This year I got them out in early spring when we felt the first few mosquitoes coming out and we haven't felt any sense. The cups are full already and they have only been out for a couple weeks! They dried up fast with the sunny days but since they were not very long I added some water and they are still working great! I highly recommend these they work really, really well! Seriously I live out in the woods and there are no mosquitoes around the house or the work garage. Last year was the first year I used them. One week my son said he couldn't work out by the garage cuz he was getting chewed alive. I put the cups out in a week later he told me the cups worked amazing and there were no mosquitoes at all out there. So much more enjoyable to be out in the yard since we found tougher than Tom's mosquito cups.
Less than a week up, in less than optimal mosquito weather, the few that are out have found the bait. Of the three I see up, only one caught mosquitos, the one nearest the trees. The two out in the open were empty, which have now been mover to areas of trees and bushes.
Seems to work really well for the little bugs in general. At least in my area got tons and tons of flies, also got some wasps, bees, and other flying insects. Didnt really sift through the bugs to see if there were mosquitos. But gonna keep using them for this reason and hopefully mosquitoes are getting caught too.
I live in Ohio and right now It’s pretty humid here. I purchased the four pack and using two of them, one in a pine tree and one in a cherry tree close to my patio. As of August 2026, Tougher Than Tom started sending out an ineffective bait product that is clearly different than their previous bait products. I received my refill order and the ingredients were crystal clear (rather than than the murky yellow it usually is) and was clumpy rather than like sand. It also was sent without the original branding box and arrived in a mesh baggy. It was clearly a different product I was sent and has does not work at all for mosquitos. After contacting support and describing the situation, they refunded a portion of my money and agreed the product was different. No timeline was given on the restock of the original product. What is concerning is that they sent out a product that is clearly offer not correct and could not answer why they sent it anyway and then went out of stock nearly instantly after. In my opinion, they knowingly sent a fake product given they did not have any actual product available. Beware of quality control and lack of transparency.
After more than a week nothing. They are in my garden which has alot of mosquitoes. I put my Dynatrap beside it and it catches tons.

It has not worked at all, it’s been in for 11 days I have given it plenty of time to work as the instruction state…the ones that don’t even come with the product you have to look them up, I’m sitting here now still swarmed in mosquitos, the traps have not caught a single one of them….i could not be any more unhappy with this product.

We have set two out. One has a wasp in it and the other if completely full of mold. Not one mosquito has been caught and we have a lot right now with recent rain.
I followed the instructions. The only thing I got was mold growing in them. Maybe caught a few mosquitoes but mostly just smelled yeasty and molded. I had them about 6’ off the ground in the shade.
I was really skeptical about this product as so many others don’t work. I have 1/2 acre of land and lots of water features including a pond. I also have neighbors who have tall weeds in their back yards and we also have lots of woods around us. So you can imagine the mosquitoes we have. Well this stuff works. Now it took about a week to really start working but it does work. I can now enjoy sitting out at night and early in the mornings for my coffee! I will be purchasing refills!
I have 4 distributed for 10 days. Not a single bug but mosquitos still flying everywhere. All that happened is this black blob of mold.
I put seven traps as instructed around my yard…in the shade. Within a thick layer of mold formed & no mosquitoes caught. Sorry to say this was a big waste of money.
We put these up about an hour ago and normally at this time of night at 8:20 PM, it is impossible to sit out back due to the mosquitoes. I was just getting eaten alive last night. After almost a month and between all three that I put out I maybe caught 5 mosquitoes
I really wanted it to work because i can’t enjoy my yard in summer times. But it obviously doesn’t work for me. I stayed only 10minutes outside. And i have almost 10 bites on my arm and 2 on the other one. I’m really disappointed.
This product does NOT work as promised. I have had this placed in a very active mosquito area for almost 2 weeks and as you can tell, there is hardly any insects in it. I will be requesting a refund as I feel it is not performing as sold and advertised.
The only thing all 4 of my traps are catching is flies and bees. I really had hoped my grandchildren could come and play outside but I still have an infestation. Yes I checked the entire property for standing water. The traps just don't seem to attract an single mosquito.
Maybe it’s because I live in California, where we have a very dry climate. I mixed it well using the amount of water suggested…I bake bread, so I deal with using yeast frequently. Neither units hung in direct sunlight, but the liquid dried very quickly. It did capture some mosquitoes, as well as a few other species, but not enough to make a difference. I have one more packet, which I will try, but I’m not expecting a very different outcome. Best regards, Ron S
2 weeks & all we get is mold
Did not catch a single mosquito, used all 4 and followed directions perfectly and all of them ended up with different color molds. Put in different locations and never did anything. Thought they would work but everyone is still getting eaten up.
My container caught flies and ants, but the mosquitoes remain here biting me. I have my small porch surrounded with these. Apparently I’m more delicious.
We’re greatly impressed with this product. I’ve hung 4 around our 1 acre property and have had virtually zero bugs. It seems to really wreak havoc on black flies, deer and horse flies, and even hornets. The attached picture is after just 3 days. This is in northern Minnesota for reference. We always have mosquitoes and flies. Not anymore!

This is my trap one week later. We have a one acre yard in NC foothills. This trap is disgusting and stinks to high heaven. This is the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I bought refills, but though this thing was supposed to last a month. Should I dump these and rebait? Also, easiest ways to dispose of this ball of bugs (mostly flys, yellow jackets, and mosquitos). So I would say this thing really works, but appears it might work too good and might not last as long as advertised. I really would like to know proven easiest way to dispose of the mess though.
6-26-25. I very rarely leave a review unless it works better than I expect it to. I live next to a swamp and could not go outside as the sun was going down because I would get eaten alive by mosquitoes. I bought these and set 4 of them up around my house and it is insane how well these work. My wife and kids even told me, you actually found something that works. My family was outside until after dark, swimming sitting listening to music and didn’t get bitten at all. It did take a couple weeks after putting them up to really notice so I recommend getting them and setting them up before the mosquitoes really get bad. I will be purchasing these every year now.
After 2 months, I now have my neighbors asking about these little wonders! Very impressed with how well they worked and how long the bait lasts!
Not sure they are working to the full potential. I've only had 3 of them hanging for 5 days. I still have mosquitoes but they are HORRIBLE in Corpus Christi, TX so I'm not sure anything will work. I live in a subdivision on less than .25 acres so I'm hopeful.
Put in my order on Saturday, July 15, 2023, for Mosquito TNT and 3 refills. and received them on Tuesday, July 25. Installed all four buckets on Wednesday, July 26. I am excited to see how they work at killing mosquitos in the yard. I put one on each corner of my yard which covers about .7 acre. I also installed little buckets with water and Mosquito Dunks to kill any larvae. Between the two products, I'm hoping for a mosquito free backyard soon. It has only been a week so I can't really tell if there is a reduction in mosquitos yet. We have had an unusually wet summer so far here in central Maine so lack of a lot of mosquitos may be an indication it is starting to work. Will know more in a few weeks.
